Camassia cusickii, commonly known as Cusick's camas, is a striking bulbous perennial native to north eastern Oregon and western Idaho. It features tall, upright stems reaching up to 30 inches (76 cm), topped with racemes of star-shaped, pale blue to lavender flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer. The plant's long, linear leaves emerge from a large bulb, and its delicate, slightly zygomorphic blossoms open sequentially from bottom to top, accented by bright yellow anthers. Thriving in moist, well-drained soils, this North American beauty tolerates sun or shade and naturalizes easily, making it a charming addition to gardens or wildflower meadows.
