Catananche caerulea, commonly known as Cupid's dart or blue catananche, is a striking herbaceous perennial native to the Mediterranean region. Growing to about 18-24 inches (45-60 cm) tall, it features slender, wiry stems topped with vibrant, cornflower-blue, daisy-like flowers that bloom from late spring through summer. The blossoms, accented by papery bracts, rise above a basal rosette of narrow, grey-green leaves. Thriving in well-drained soil and full sun, this drought-tolerant plant is perfect for borders, rock gardens, or cutting gardens, where its long-lasting blooms add a vivid splash of colour. Historically, it was used in love potions, earning its romantic nickname.
