Digitalis x mertonensis 'Summer King', commonly known as Merton foxglove 'Summer King', is a stunning hybrid perennial resulting from a cross between D. purpurea and D. grandiflora. Growing to about 24-30 inches (60-75 cm) tall, it boasts robust spikes of tubular, strawberry-pink flowers with speckled throats, blooming from late spring to early summer. The blossoms emerge above a basal rosette of soft, ovate green leaves. Thriving in partial shade to full sun and well-drained soil, this shorter-lived perennial is perfect for cottage gardens or mixed borders. Like all foxgloves, its vibrant colour makes it a standout in any planting.
